Ainsleigh.

Seven years ago today, my mom woke me up on Easter Sunday to inform me that we were going to the hospital, and I got to be in the room when my first niece came into the world.

Probably my favorite picture of her (which is saying something, because they take a lot).

I've always had a soft spot for Ainsleigh. Sometimes she just seems like a little porcelain doll. She's sensitive and thoughtful and introspective, and it's always fun to talk to her and feel like you're sharing secrets between just the two of you. Even at this age, the boys love to have her attention and make her laugh, so I'm sure she'll be a heartbreaker when she grows up. But luckily, that's a little while off. Happy Birthday, Seesee.

Doov.

Birthday season in the Ostler family has arrived once again. Today we pay tribute to the last little bird left in the nest, David Charles Ostler. He's gone from an adorable moon-faced child with a bowl cut to a tall, lanky class clown that can master the Expert-level drums on any Rock Band song. You'd think as a youngest child he'd be a brat, but Dave is one of the most low-key and easy-going people I know. Add to that a clever and sarcastic sense of humor, a willingness to do almost anything his sisters tell him to, good style (thanks Mom), and a newly braces-free smile, and the girls of EFY Provo 2009 better prepare to swoon. Happy 17th, little bro.

Backhanded.

Donovan.

This little buddy is four years old today. And even though it's been over a year since I lived there, I still miss coming home from work and hearing a scratchy-voiced, "Baba, you home?" from the kitchen. If you're ever in the market for a pint-sized ping pong opponent or an awesome running-start hug, this is your guy. Happy Birthday, little dude.

Confessions.

Today I had a song in my head all morning, and after a while I finally realized it was this song. I was ashamed of myself.

Today I very seriously considered bidding on an entire case of Thin Mints on eBay. That's 12 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

Today on my way home from work I stood for a good 5 minutes in front of the window of the pet shop near my apartment. Literally the only thought in my head for those 5 minutes was, "PUPPIEEEEEEEEES!"

Yeah, it was that kind of day.
