Today there was a special conference for the NYC area, in which I got to hear this man speak:
...at this place:
"When harder times come, stay with Him. There may be temptation to say, 'Well, I guess God doesn't care about me.' But when the winds and waves are unexpected and fierce, stay in the boat. This is no time for you to try your own little doggy paddle." - Jeffrey R. Holland
He also quoted Bryan Adams.

ReplyDeleteSo, would this fellow be the something akin to the Billy Graham of the LDS church? Or is it something different (like an embassador or something along those lines)?
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Man, I love that quote! Doggy Paddle. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Stephen - Jeffrey R. Holland is an Apostle, one of the highest offices in the Church. Among other duties, he receives revelation and gives counsel to the members of the Church. More information about LDS Church organization can be found here. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'm afraid I don't know who you are - mind if I ask how you came by this blog?
Laura,
ReplyDeleteI don't mind your asking. I stumbled across your blog over the summer while looking for some info on a trip to NYC. I often use the blogger search function for travel research. People always seem so willing to talk about where they've been and what they did while they were there. And you happened to have blogged about running around the city with a friend who had flown in. I read a few of your entries and decided to RSS your feed (while we don't share the same literary tastes, you seem to be a rather cultured gal when it comes to music and the theatre...and you like "So You Think You Can Dance").
And that's the story of how I started to follow your blog. I hope you don't mind. Feel free to read more about me here.
i really think we're related.
ReplyDeleteHey Stephen - Nope, I don't mind. I follow a blog or two myself of people I don't know. And besides, any fan of SYTYCD is okay in my book. ;)
